The Ancient Tea Road vs. The Silk Road

The Ancient Tea Road, known as the Southern Silk Road , began in Tang Dynasty.
It had remained open and well traveled throughout Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Precious goods and tea from China gathered in LiJiang, loaded on horses, mules
and yaks, traverse 1500km through the Three Parallel Rivers Region to reach Lhasa
and the land beyond.

In LiJiang this ancient international trade route was known as
the Ancient Tea Horse Road or Tibet Road .
