New Tea Road vs. Burma Road

The motorized vehicle transportation of the 20th century had nearly rendered
the large-scale horse caravan transportation obsolete.

During 1920-30's, tea and other precious goods intended for Lhasa was transported
by trains, riverboats, steamship, and trucks from Southern YunNan through Burma
and India in half the time.

This New Tea Road was founded by NaXi tea merchants.
